Biography: PPs interest in pain medicine and medical simulation has led him to contribute to the development of both fields in Hong Kong. In 2002, he established one of the first pain management centre and multidisciplinary pain management team in Hong Kong at his hospital. PP has been promoting the development of pain management for many years and was the inaugural President of the Hong Kong Pain Society in 2006. He had led the development of the Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists (HKCA) Pain Medicine Fellowship programme, when he chaired the Board of Pain Medicine of HKCA, and continues to lead the development of multidisciplinary pain medicine in Hospital Authority (HA) as the current Chair of HA Multidisciplinary Committee on Pain Medicine. PP has also been heavily involved in the medical simulation programmes of both the HKCA and HA. Over the last 15 years, he has contributed to teaching, promoting and developing the use of medical simulation in healthcare education. He introduced medical simulation training to surgeons and physicians in 2007, and led the introduction of simulation-based patient safety training for all new HA interns in 2010. He is currently the Director of HA New Territories East Cluster Simulation & Training Centre and the Honorary Director of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Innovative Learning Centre for Medicine at the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine. He is also the Chief of Service Department of Anaesthesiology & Operating Services, North District Hospital and Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital.
