Award / titles received: Nelson Mandela Medallion in Gold for services to the late President of the republic.

Statement of expertise for the sub-committee: Academic and professional committee leadership over many years.  

Biography: Arthur Joseph Rantloane is Professor and Head of Department (Anaesthesiology) in the School of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Pretoria. He is also Chief Specialist (Anaesthesiology) at the Steve Biko Academic hospital in Pretoria, South Africa. He has held various leadership positions in anaesthesia locally and globally. Locally he is a past president of the South African Society of Anaesthesiologists and College of Anaesthetists of South Africa. Other appointments in the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa included Chairman of Examinations & Credentials Committee and Honorary Registrar (Examinations & Credentials). Global appointments associated with the WFSA include past chairmanship of the Constitution Committee (still currently a member) and past Presidency of the Africa Regional Section. He is a recipient of the Nelson Mandela Medallion in Gold for services to the late President.
