Statement of expertise for the sub-committee: Professor Myatra works in Asia’s largest cancer hospital since 17 years with extensive experience in airway management in head and neck cancer patients and other difficult airway. She organized the first national airway meeting in the country at Tata Memorial Hospital (now a popular national ongoing annual event at this center). She conducts regular training courses and workshops in airway management. She also specializes in critical care for cancer patients.
Biography: Sheila Myatra is currently Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain at the Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai (India), which is the largest tertiary cancer care center in Asia. She completed her MD (Anesthesiology) from Mumbai University and has been awarded the fellowship of the American College of Critical Care Medicine (FCCM). She is the founder member and General Secretary of the national airway society “ All India Difficult Airway Association” (AIDAA). She is a consultant critical care specialist attending to the 23- bed mixed medical-surgical ICU. She is teacher for Medical Council of India recognized Anesthesiology degree programme and teacher for Critical Care super specialization programme (DM Critical Care) of the HBNI University (Mumbai). Her research interests include difficult airway management, functional hemodynamic monitoring, sedation and infection control
