Statement of expertise for the sub-committee: Interest in clinical pharmacology and pharamcokinetics. Pharmacokinetic modeling of anesthetics and clincal application of the pharmacokinetic models in TCI systems. Development of feedback control systems for intravenous and volatile anesthetics.

Biography: Medical school, University of Berne, Switzerland. After Residency in anesthesia at the University Hospital in Berne, research fellowship (clinical pharmacology) in the lab of Proff. Stanski and Shafer at Stanford University, California (1993-1995). Development of population pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic models for propofol and remifentanil with state of the art methodology. Research in pharmacokinetics and automatic control (supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation) in Berne. Since 2001 head of the Department of Anesthesiology, Intensiv-, Rescue and Painmedicine in St.Gallen Switzerland.
