Biography: Randal S. Blank received his Ph.D. in Physiology from The Pennsylvania State University in 1986 and his M.D. from the University of Virginia in 1997. He is currently Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Chief of Thoracic Anesthesia at The University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. Dr. Blank's areas of research interest and investigation include microvascular dysfunction in the esophagectomy patient, multimodal analgesia after thoracic surgery, mechanisms of iatrogenic lung injury, lung protective ventilation in the thoracic surgical patient.
