Statement of expertise for the sub-committee: Dr David de Beer has a special interest in anaesthesia for craniofacial surgery, urology (including phaeochromocytoma) and enhanced recovery. He has a particular interest in human factors and is the department lead for simulation and the national co-lead for Managing Emergencies in Paediatric Anaesthesia for Consultants (MEPA FC). He is also a Medical Director and experienced instructor for European Paediatric Life Support (EPLS).

Biography: Dr David de Beer (BSc, MB ChB, DCH, FRCA)is a Consultant Paediatric Anaesthetist at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust, where he has worked since 2002. Special interests: Dr de Beer has a special interest in anaesthesia for craniofacial surgery, urology (including phaeochromocytoma) and enhanced recovery.He has a particular interest in human factors and is the department lead for simulation and the national co-lead for Managing Emergencies in Paediatric Anaesthesia for Consultants (MEPA FC). He is also a Medical Director and experienced instructor for European Paediatric Life Support (EPLS). Qualifications and training: Dr de Beerreceived his undergraduate training at the University of Cape Town and general anaesthesia training at St Georges Hospital. Speciality training in Paediatric Anaesthesia was completed at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Research interests: Dr de Beer is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Portex Department of Paediatric Anaesthesia, Institute of Child Health, University College London and has published a number of journal articles and book chapters.
