Biography: Associate Professor Chi Wai Cheung, MBBS(HK), MD(HKU), FHKCA, FHKAM(Anaesthesiology), FHKCA(Pain Med), Dip Pain Mgt (HKCA) is the Vice President of World Congress of Anaesthesiologists (WCA) 2016. He is currently the Clinical Associate Professor of Department of Anaesthesiology, The University of Hong Kong, the Honorary Consultant of Department of Anaesthesiology, Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong, and the Assistant Dean of Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, the University of Hong Kong. He is a specialist in Anaesthesiology and Pain Medicine. He was granted the Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Hong Kong with research in pain medicine. His current research interests include pain medicine (both basic and clinical), and sedation medications and techniques. Dr. Cheung has published extensively in peer reviewed scientific journals of Anaesthesiology and Pain Medicine. He is also a regular invited journal reviewer for many peer review journals. Apart from being the Head of the Laboratory, Department of Anaesthesiology, the University of Hong Kong, he has also established the Laboratory and Clinical Research Institute for Pain at the University of Hong Kong that is a pioneering interdisciplinary academic platform to support and nurture both basic science and clinical pain research in Hong Kong. Dr. Cheung is also very active in his medical specialty. He is the Immediate Past President, the Society of Anaesthetists of Hong Kong and currently, the First Vice President, the Hong Kong College of Anaesthesiologists.
