Biography: John Moyers was born in Pasadena, California in 1947. He received his BS degree in 1969 and MD degree in John Moyers was born in Pasadena, California in 1947. He received his BS degree in 1969 and MD degree in 1973 from the University Iowa. An internship in medicine at the Los Angeles County - University of Southern California Medical Center was followed by a residency in anesthesia at the University of California – San Francisco. In 1979 Dr. Moyers moved to the Anesthesia Department at the University of Iowa where he founded the cardiac anesthesia group and later became full Professor in 1990. He served on numerous committees within his department, the college of medicine, and the university over the next 35 years. He has served as Pres. of the Academy of Anesthesiology, Pres. of the Anesthesia Foundation, and on the Board of directors of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. In 2014 Dr. Moyers retired and he remains Professor Emeritus. Involvement with the WFSA began in 1988. Over the years he served in numerous capacities including as a member of the Executive Committee (1992-2000) and as Secretary (2004-2008).
