Biography: Introduction: Johan Raeder MD, PhD, Johan Raeder is professor in Anaesthesiology at Oslo University Hospital in Norway and University of Oslo since 1994. He is also director of ambulatory anaesthesia at the hospital and works clinically in day-care anaesthesia, trauma care and intensive care. He has been in the editorial board of Anesthesia Analgesia and Acta Anaestesiologica Scandinavica. He is in the board of Eurosiva and has been leader of the Subcommittee for Ambulatory Anaesthesia in the European Society of Anaesthesiologists. Professor Raeders research interests have focused on aspects linked to clinical ambulatory anaesthesia, including anaesthetic pharmacology, target control infusion, depth of anaesthesia monitoring, and postoperative issuses: pain control, nausea prophylaxis, recovery function and outcome. Professor Raeder has published about 160 scientific articles referred on medline, 15-20 bookchapters, written and edited his own textbook on Practical Ambulatory Anaesthesia and has given many invited lectures at international scientific meetings during the last 30 years.
