Biography: Lars Simon Rasmussen was born 1959 and became Medical Doctor, University of Copenhagen 1985. He became an accredited specialist in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care 1994 and received the European Diploma in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care 1996. He has formerly been employed as house officer and registrar at the Departments of Surgery, Medicine, Anaesthesia and Gynaecology at the National University Hospital, Rigshospitalet and Hillerød Hospital. During 1991 to 1993, he was a resident at the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, National University Hospital, Rigshospitalet and 1993 to 1994 senior registrar at the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, National University Hospital, Rigshospitalet He was a research fellow at the Department of Anaesthesia, Centre of Head and Orthopaedics, Copenhagen University Hospital, Rigshospitalet 1994-1997. During 1997-1999, he was consultant in anaesthesia, Department of Anaesthesia, Center of Head and Orthopaedics, Copenhagen University Hospital, Rigshospitalet, and 1999-2000 consultant in anaesthesia, Department of Anaesthesia, Herlev Hospital, Copenhagen. He was clinical lecturer in anaesthesia at University of Copenhagen September 2001 to December 2009. Since 2000, he has been consultant in anaesthesia, Department of Anaesthesia, Center of Head and Orthopaedics, Copenhagen University Hospital, Rigshospitalet. Since 2010, he has been Research Professor, Department of Anaesthesia, Center of Head and Orthopaedics, Copenhagen University Hospital, Rigshospitalet. The Ph.D. dissertation entitled Postoperative Cognitive Dysfunction in Elderly Patients was defended 1999, and the Medical Doctoral Thesis was defended 2007. It was entitled Postoperative cognitive dysfunction - incidence, risk factors, and correlation with biochemical markers for brain damage. He has published 196 articles and 23 editorials, and he has previously been supervisor for 17 Ph.D.-students, and he is currently supervisor for 7 Ph.D.-students. He has been reviewer for Lancet, Stroke, Circulation, Anesthesiology, Anesthesia and Analgesia, British Journal of Anaesthesia, Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, European Journal of Anaesthesiology, Neurotoxicity Research, Acta Neurologica Scandinavica, Journal of Clinical and Experimental Neuropsychology, European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, Drugs and Aging, BMC Neurology, Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine. He has been a member of Editorial Board for Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica since 2002, Assistant editor-in-chief 2008-2009, and Editor-in-Chief 2009-2015
