Biography: Dr Jonathan Smith is a Consultant paediatric anaesthetist. He has worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) in the anaesthetic department since 2004. Specialisms All aspects of general paediatric anaesthesia with a special emphasis on anaesthesia for ENT surgery, scoliosis correction and endoscopy. Dr Smith has an active interest in teaching and training and is an experienced instructor on Advanced Paediatric Life Support and MEPAcourses. Qualifications and training Registered degrees: MB. BS. BSc. FRCA. MA. MAcadMEd. Dr Smith received his undergraduate training at University College London and completed his general anaesthetic training at St Bartholomews and the London Hospitals and at University College London Hospital. He completed his Masters in Simulation and Technology in Clinical Practice at the Institute of Education, London. Speciality training in Paediatric Anaesthesia was completed at Great Ormond Street Hospital and Sick Kids Hospital, Toronto. Dr Smith is the Co-College Tutor at Great Ormond Street for the Royal College of Anaesthetists. He is also the European representative on the Paediatric Committee of the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthiologists (WFSA) and the Paediartic Section Editor for the British Journal of Anaesthesia-Education. Research interests Dr Smith is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the UCL Institute of Child Health. He has published a number of journal articles and book chapters and regularly lectures at the Royal College of Anaesthetists on paediatric resuscitation.
