Statement of expertise for the sub-committee: The management of patients with a difficult airway and ambulatory surgery anesthesia

Biography: Michael Walsh, MD, is an anesthesiologist with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Walsh received his medical degree from the University of Indiana and did an anesthesia residency at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. His particular interests are in the management of patients with a difficult airway and ambulatory surgery anesthesia. Dr Walsh is a past president of the Minnesota Society of Anesthesiologists and former chair of the American Society of Anesthesiologists ambulatory care committee. He is currently President-elect of the Society for Ambulatory Anesthesia. The anesthesiologists at the Mayo Clinic supervise over 89,000 surgical cases requiring anesthesia annually. In addition, they are involved in ongoing research and education, with expertise in the anesthetic management of patients of all ages.
