Biography: Trained in Christchurch, New Zealand and Melbourne, Australia and then worked for two years as a Senior Lecturer at the Fiji School of Medicine in Suva, Fiji. Returned to New Zealand in 2002. Very active in anaesthesia education, with frequent teaching trips to the Pacific region and further afield. Pacific region coordinator for the Primary Trauma Care (PTC) course from 2004-2010. Co-author of the Essential Pain Management (EPM) course, which has now been taught in over forty countries worldwide. Co-convenor of the Real World Anaesthesia Course (RWAC), which trains Australian and New Zealand anaesthetists to work in low-resource settings. Inaugural chair of both the Overseas Aid Committee of Australian and NZ College of Anaesthetists, and the Overseas Aid Committee of the NZ Society of Anaesthetists. Chair of the WFSA's Education Committee since 2012. Interests include swimming, mountain biking, scuba diving and photography.
