He is Chairman of the organising committee for the World Congress of Anaesthesia 2016. Research interests include intravenous anaesthesia, pharmacology, acute pain management and organ preconditioning. He is part of the Faculty of 1000 Medicine in the field of Cardiovascular medicine in anaesthesia: basic science.
